Gardening and not using produce…

What’s something you do completely differently from how you were raised?

Growing up we had an enormous rhubarb patch, apple trees and overhanging plums from next door. All of it was made into things.

Appley mess! Dry grasses adding to the mess…

I’ve had my own garden for over twenty years and my use of produce is abysmal by comparison with my parents. In fact dad would be disowning me if he hadn’t passed this year.

I could use that age old excuse of grieving to ask for some compassion in my sweat-dripping brow as I attempt to clear some of the masses of apples that have been attracting nocturnal animals. I know they are nocturnal as they send the dog into paroxysms of anticipation in the small hours of darkness.

I want to get the/a garden team into action. A landscaper. A plantsman. A maintenance worker. But if I’m being honest I’m not ready to give it all up to someone else. I went to other people’s gardens for a brief job so I know what can be accomplished with a bit of investment.

If dad hadn’t donated his body to science I think he’d be turning in his grave. As it is is he providing future medics with conundrums? Mr B was bagged up securely wasn’t he? Sorry funny not funny.

I don’t know what day it is most of the time and I fear my MS is probably progressing. The new drug I’m on can also be used for progressive MS so that could be my current status, not relapsing remitting. Hence the worse tingles and occasional vertigo as well as the cognitive stuff. Blast! Getting old without trying…

A comment asked about donating the downfalls to local stables but I’m not sure the apples are free of small animals… they’ve been fallen for a while…
