Our rescue dog wants to be friends with everyone and everyone’s dogs. He is referred to as a sighthound and he spots the smallest dogs who are often hiding away from him.

He wants to make friends ! Do those brief moments of sniff and nuzzle help his levels of doggy dopamine ?
The small dogs (and their owners!) are wary of our pointy-eared hound. Despite his enthusiasm there is definitely a fear of the bounciness of a greyhound/Alsation type. He has German Shepherd ears and often people ask if he’s a whippet. Does the confusion of breed add to his internal confusion?

He is definitely hyper focused: that ball launcher was our best purchase as he forgets the world around him when the ball is jettisoned. Other dogs sometimes try to join in but that adds to his delight. The game, the chase being natural to his herding instinct.
When he knows we are trying to take pictures of him in play it’s almost impossible and I have to be content with short films. It’s almost as if he knows the Facebook pattern of not posting family faces!
