And just like that the Chelsea Flower Show is back!

I was truly surprised by the first Chelsea programme on the telly tonight! I want to take it all in but it’s a full on show. Introducing lots of things very quickly. A garden has been created for the king by Frances Tophill and it had something to do with David Beckham and Alan Titchmarsh?

The process of creating these gardens is truly monumental: they bring in enormous quantities of plants and building materials and there are many designers and workers creating the week’s gardens. They all come down again on Friday.

I visited CFS in the 1990s on a Friday after work and seeing plants being taken away on tubes and buses was truly remarkable.

Pictures of my telly and taken by my phone! Like I say, I won’t be going to the show. Getting to Chelsea from my current home would be a nightmare: I wouldn’t relish crossing London by tube these days and I’d be exhausted before getting to the show itself, never mind trying to navigate the crowds and crowds of people.

It’s a pipe dream these days.
