Branklyn Gardens, Perth

While I was waiting for the results of major surgery (my husband) my mother has visited one of my favourite Scottish gardens.

As it was wet, it was fairly quiet and mum (Norma) was able to talk to lots of the volunteers. She visited with my godmother Pat and I think despite the rain, they had a great time. She was impressed by the colours and varieties of plants, some of which she had never seen in all her gardening life, which at approaching 80 is a while! (I didn’t tell you that shhh)

I don’t often get to Scotland around this time (unless it coincides with an Easter holiday) so the opinions and photos are my mums!

There were rare plants that were flowering and they had lots for sale. Mum said it had ‘Plants I have never seen before like a Rhodesdendron (don’t know the spelling) , an unusual one that looks like a cross between a lily and a Rhode’.

They loved the house (which I hadn’t gone inside) and the food that was served by volunteers and another Norma serving up the lunches and cakes was the source of lots of garden information. Lots of blue Himalayan poppies will be flowering soon too! Well worth a visit folks!
