After the rain!

Weeds come up easily! We are gaily pulling out my garden weedscape and uncovering plants under attack. Bindweed has gone crazy and we have pulled lots of things that look like dandelions or just look like seed heads. Granny is in her element pulling out everything until I point out that certain things I’ve planted. We are both Taysiders and although thistles (echium?) can be decorative G felt they had no place in my garden…

Wait till she sees the blue thistles in the front! I am not keen on the rain (or gardening in it) but it has loosened a few roots and although G feels stronger than she has for a while, I am conscious of taking it all in little chunks. Or bed by bed… transferring soil from areas and enriching it as we do has possibly spread some of the worst weeds but have they also then protected some delicate little plants?

I’ve tidied my plant pots a little and made some little pots available for the greenhouse shelves. I won’t make a plan do that yet as the door is still off to one side and missing a pane. But clearing plastic rubbish still needs done. The recycling can’t be collected too soon!

Allium seedhead : to leave or not?

Reflection while gardening will be focused on the next stage of my career beyond the garden and it is still open to suggestions.
