Everyone’s getting older? Or are they?!?

What are your thoughts on the concept of living a very long life?

In the list of Famous people who’ve recently passed this year there are many that have been the same age as I am now… so it makes me question the theory that everyone’s living longer.

My dad is still hoping to reach 100. He’s lived longer than his own father but my grampa liked to spend his free time toddling back and forward to local pubs and hotel bars into his late 70s. But I’ve discussed my granny’s cookbook before and she was an amazing baker so there was temptation all around.

She could make an amazing broth too, which is healthier than the traditional Scottish diet.

So my own health is also putting a question on my own longevity. MS cuts 5% off the possible length of life and that’s without considering loss of mobility or catching flu or getting pneumonia which could cause hospitalisation. And falling over is not adding to lengthening my odds….

But motherhood increases the desire to stick around, and find ways to improve the bad habits and becoming more active (get those steps up!) and Monday sees the return of my yoga class, so I was given brownie points from the physio for that.

I just have to ensure that my balance improves. Head turning exercises anyone?

My favourite treats…

  1. I completely feel you. I’ll be 40 in June and am already feeling the effects of aging thanks to my cerebral palsy and also thanks probably to my impulsive actions due to my mental health issues. I never knew that MS sufferers on average have a lower life expectancy than healthy people.
