School holidays don’t tie in with University terms so when we wanted to let my youngest to see a bit of where her sister was studying, we decided to go for an overnighter between the least class-heavy days midweek. It’s still hard for me to judge the amount of things I can undertake and how much pre-planning is needed.

We stayed in a budget hotel close to Liverpool Lime Street and really only circled a mile circumference but actually did so much walking my feet are seriously sore. I forget this was probably me when I lived in Edinburgh in my teens studying for my degree. Living cheaply, shopping sales, and trying to find the cheapest meal deals! But it’s made me realise I miss having regular access to a city.
It’s not gardens but we did go round the city’s festive light show, which was spectacular. If you’re near Liverpool it’s worth a wander, in firm walking shoes. My blisters are painful. And those blister plasters aren’t cheap!
So enjoy!
