Our oldest daughter has a place at Liverpool University, so we spent twelve hours taking her there and driving back… it was an epic task! The car was fully packed and we managed to fit three of us in and left the dog at home with youngest child.

I was last in Liverpool in the 90s when I was a student and I look forward to spending more time there over the next few years.

There were things we want to go back and see. There are art galleries to visit. There are shops of all kinds. I feel it may be much improved in thirty odd years since my last visit and it made me determined to go back soonest.

We managed to drive past a whole load of Penny Lane businesses which I have no idea whether they are original to the Beatles track. We saw the Mersey Ferry depot and then headed home Tate and not far from that was the tiniest strip of beach.

Parts of the Liver Building will feature in a new Marvel film as Gotham City! Lots of Art to see…
