How to get in trouble…

I have ways of paying for things without getting in trouble – I am paying off debts for example – but every so often I use the wrong card. I wish I only had one to be honest, but I feel exposed when I make a garden purchase on the wrong account. I have been good, I promise, but the offer of gorgeous tulip bulbs and alliums was too good to miss. I have a lot of weeding to do in the front garden and pulling out of mares tails. Planting more tulips while doing so would mean the hard stuff is worth it.

Spiky things and ivy… side wall.

I need to spend a few weeks on my kneeler pulling out the worst things, but if I can combine with digging in some new things, and improving the soil all is worth it. Currently the front is sort of green, but not with grass, more a sort of mossy mixture of weedy things. I need to change that!

It’s also cultivating some tree saplings we MUST pull out. I need to flex some muscles and eliminate the ash, elder and rowan saplings! Otherwise we will no longer have secure foundations to our house, (built in the 1930s, with concrete floors annoyingly) and I don’t fancy sycamores growing everywhere as it’s not conducive to maintaining a prewar concrete that was used in building in the 30s. We can’t encourage tree growth close to the house.

Ivy has gone rampant again on the side walls. People love the effect of Ivy strewn over walls but I favour its extermination… toxic pest!

So I actually have lots to do. And I have time to do it while job-hunting. Keep your fingers crossed that I manage to make those garden changes asap before the recruiting season begins in earnest…

Lillies are flowering currently but the foliage is chomped by lily beetles…

And with the thunder and rain, I feel tonight won’t see much gardening occurring!
