What’s the most fun way to exercise?
It’s probably an OCD characteristic but a lot of my gardening endeavours involve weeding. Depending on the genus of the weeds, you can have a good workout when having to attack certain types of weeds.
A garden I was in at the weekend had lots of weeds growing on gravel over a thick weed membrane. This meant the weeds have shallow weak roots so easily extracted. Other gardens have weeds that come with extensive root systems which with access to the deepest soil have developed growth that’s hard to eradicate.
There is also A No Weed movement which suggests covering areas of weeds with carpet or cardboard and leaving the weeds to disappear over time. I’ve seen this work with a strong membrane covered with gravel. Ten years or more means the earth can be weed free. But regular removal of the shallow weeds on top is one of the best aerobic exercises.
I just need to find my impetus again!
