My youngest is a Patrol Leader with her Scouts now and we helped at a local nature reserve to both cull some stinging nettles and build some natural fences. It was a busy few hours helping out at Ivel Springs. We’ve walked our doodle there and I’d seen people working and apparently every second Sunday of the month they have a working group who help to keep this and the Baldock Weston nature reserve in check and an award winning local amenity.

I am pretty tired after our session but I am also thinking this might be a good thing to contribute to. I need to try and build up my activity level to maintain a healthy level of fitness. (The dog being another way!)

I’m not able to post pics of actual Scouts for GDPR reasons as well as safeguarding concerns and I was quite happy to understand how strict the leaders have been on this the whole time my girls have been Scouts.
An exhausting morning was had. But I’d quite like to continue helping… weeding for the good of a community space… and the group who do this are Baldock Greenspaces on one Sunday per month.

NB we didn’t do a poop sweep and sadly there are obviously some dog owners that don’t consider the wider community, sadly.
