Muddling along… in local fields!

May just keeps whipping past. Four weeks after major surgery, the whole family has had to make changes. I’m not sure we can expect to keep up the pace without making some accommodation to our youngest who is cooking up a storm! We had our first barbecue of the year! With S’s own beef burgers and some jumbo Cumberland sausages, the first barbecue was a stupendous success.

We walked the dog in some local fields to wipe her out before our visitor arrived after lunch. Ironically although visitors to recovering patients is a ‘thing’ it also tires the patient severely. It’s four weeks now and it still requires my husband is still having the difficulty of awkward back sleeping and the pain means a lack of sleep. The rib cage was ‘cracked’ open to do the surgery and a vein was stripped out of his leg to make the bypass vein, which means one leg is very painful. These were the details I found so hard to listen to in the pre-op session but I’m slowly being able to understand as I get involved in the recovery.

And my daughter and D walked into town yesterday to get the barbecue meats. We had spent Saturday evening watching the dramatic Eurovision Song Contest 2024, so we will all need an early night!
