Eight months ago I bought concert tickets for my oldest daughter. I am too old for the mosh pit so I bought circle in the wonderful Hammersmith Apollo (now renamed for its sponsors). I worried a bit about my grey hair standing out but the audience for this K-pop idol was very diverse! We stood in the rain for quite a long time, under the aqueduct and canopies around the Broadway Mall which is an addition since I left West London in the early part of the 2000s.

My question mark over the K-pop designation is because Eric Nam was born in America but is based in South Korea. Reading his Wikipedia page he had quite an unusual path to his debut but it explains his quirky set and repartee. I’m late to the party as he has been prominent in Korea since 2012ish. Featured in Koreas GQ 30 under 30 which makes him older than many of the other idols.

We had seats in the circle which meant I could rest a bit after the hour long queue in the rain, but my daughter said after she was disappointed there weren’t more dancers by us – I did stand up and wave my arms about – but the front of the downstairs standing section was filled with the hardy souls who’d queued all day…

So not a gardening post but I did see amazing flower displays in Covent Garden and at the entrance to Hammersmith Broadway. Another aside, it cost me £1.50 to use the loo in the former and 50p in the latter. Spending a penny no more! Cards the only way to pay these days…
Lots of screaming and whooping means both of us are keeping quiet today!

There’s life in me still!
