Weeding weeding weeding! Granny (my mum) has worked like a dervish to try and clear the weeds that have taken over chunks of the garden. I have helped too – honest – and she’s given me a good talking to! As I’ve found myself unemployed, she has told me to look again for more creative jobs! I need to do something! Ideas on a postcard please!

You should know I’m still a bit distracted by my oldest being on the other side of the world, and seeing her on ITVX… but you know it should inspire me to get back my mojo and find the job that makes me ME! I am not a physical gardener but maybe I need to look at doing a landscape/design course to pursue some of my hobbies as work.

We have also uncovered some calla lilies and echinacea which have possibly fed our snails… I need to throw slug repellents over the uncovered areas.

My new enthusiasm needs me to look at how to mulch over the weeds (I’ve been reading) and try to get rid of the couch grasses that keep finding themselves a space in my garden. There is no mares tail in the back, but the grass is an equal menace! Hay was recommended as a mulch but I’m not sure. I think my compost bins the rats have used in the last few years need to be turned over and utilised as mulch…
